The typical orange label of this famous champagne is, by now, familiar to all of us. Perhaps not everyone knows that it owes its fortune to Madame Barbe Nicole Ponsardin, enterprising and volitional woman who at the age of 27, at the death of her husband Philippe Clicquot (from here the name Veuve), took over the reins of the house giving it prestige and fame. Thanks to her the company expanded, both for the purchase of new vineyards and for the export to Russia and, thus, with the subsequent European popularity of her champagne.
Straw yellow with golden reflections and fine perlage, it opens on aromas of brioche, white flowers and nuts, then chalky mineral notes and vaguely sweet honey and vanilla. It strikes the taste for freshness and balance, has fruity references and a fine mineral trail in closing.
Perfect as an aperitif, it goes well with dishes based on seafood, shellfish but try to accompany it to a nice piece of pizza with mortadella, and you will not regret it!
