This great reserve pays tribute to the initiative of Madame Clicquot (widow Ponsardin) who, continuing to confirm her great intuition for business faced the continental block that immobilized Europe in those times and succeeded in 1814 in sending her champagne to San Petersburg. The success was so devastating that the Russian nobility began to consider it as the height of drinks. In the assembly, the Pinot Noir predominates giving it the strong character, while the Chardonnay and the Pinot Meunier, in a smaller percentage give it elegance and softness.
Intense straw yellow with golden reflections, it has very fine bubbles that rise up from the glass. Smell that gives notes of ripe and dried fruits, brioche bread, almond brittle and sweet spices. Round palate, perfectly balanced between softness, acidity and flavour. Persistence on toasted returns.
Excellent as an aperitif, it perfectly matches to dishes based on shellfish and seafood, stuffed pasta and vegetable quiches; also try it with soft cheeses with a natural mould rind.
