In 1885, Antonio Santarelli, in love with the Agro Pontinean lands, decided to invest in the winegrowing potential of those territories not yet exploited and, aided by the family’s experience in the oenological field, decided to found Casale del Giglio. Advised by his father Dino and a group of university researchers and agronomists, he chose to plant more than 60 different types of grapes, which soon began to pay off, with good results both in purity and in blend. Among these wines the Satrico stands out, a perfect agreement between Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Trebbiano Giallo, which with its name is a tribute to the ancient city of Satrico located in the village of Le Ferriere in the IX century BC, where today is the company’s headquarter.
Pale straw yellow in colour with light greenish reflections, on the nose it smells of white flowers, jasmine and white rose, fruity of golden apple, combined with sensations of hazelnut, aromatic herbs and sweetness of vanilla. Soft to the taste and with a good body, it is supported by a lively fresh backbone that, supported by the right flavour, encourages drinking.
Ideal with cuttlefish and fennel salad or with tasty white meat, like a chicken breast escalope with butter, lemon and sage.
